Team India found guilty, Just before the 2nd ODI against New Zealand, Whole Team India and their support staff is penalized for an offence they commit in 1st match against NZ. The more surprising information is that Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma on behalf of whole team has accepted the punishment (in the form of penalty). India won the match by 12 runs but it would be remembered for Shubhman Gill‘s double hundread.

Article 2.22 | ICC Code of Conduct
In the second half of innings, Indian bowlers were bowling with slower rate and they were almost 3 overs behind the time. Match referee and former Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath took the cognizance of this delay and found out it as violation of Article 2.22 of ICC Code of Conduct. Indian players and support staff were fined 20 % of their match fees for each over they delivered in over time. Overall 60 % of their match fees would be deducted as penalty.

Team India found guilty by on-filed umpires Nitin Menon and Anil Chaudhary first raised voice against the slow over rate. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma accepted the unintentional fault team committed and accepted the penalty as well. His admission of the offence and acceptance of penalty made the official hearing unwanted.

1st ODI Highlights | Indian Innings
India won the first match against NZ by 12 runs. After winning the toss Indian choose to bat first. Opener Shubhman Gill played his miraculous innings of 208 runs. He became the youngest to cross the 200 run mark in ODI. He broke the Ishan Kishan’s record that he made on 10th Dec 2022. India made 349 runs by loosing 8 wickets.
1st ODI Highlights | New Zealand Innings
New Zealand’s batsman struggled from the start and lost the early wickets. By the end of 29th Over, NZ lost 6 wickets at the score of just 131 runs. But the NZ allrounder Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner put everyone on surprise. They started playing big shots and added 162 runs in just 102 balls. On the last 25 balls NZ needed 56 runs and match took an interesting turn.
Michael Bracewell were looking dangerous he also completed his first ODI century. In the last 20, NZ needed 20 runs and on very first ball of Shardul Thakur, Bracewell hit a long six on the long-on. On the next delivery, a slow yorker hit his pad and was given out by the Umpire. Michael Bracewell took the review but again was declared OUT. He was the last man standing, with his fall India won the match by 12 runs.Mohammad Siraj took 4 wickets for India.
