Virat Kohli Revelations
He shared about the dark phase he went through in his career, especially after 2019 World Cup. He openly said that only MS Dhoni reached out to me in my tough time. He said “What is interesting is that throughout this phase apart from Anushka, who has been the biggest source of strength for me because she has been with me throughout this whole time and she has seen me very closely as how have I felt, things that I have gone through, the kind of things that occurred…the only person who, apart from my childhood coach and family…genuinely reached out to me has been MS Dhoni.”

He further added “He reached out to me and you can rarely get in touch with him. If I call him on any random day, 99 percent he will not pick up (the phone), because he just does not look at the phone. So, for him to reach out to me…twice it has happened now and one of the things that he’d mentioned in the message while reaching out to me was that: ‘when you are expected to be strong and looked at as a strong individual people forget to ask how are you doing?”
He also mentioned “The fact that I have always been seen as someone who is highly self-assured, psychologically tough, and who can endure any situation made Dhoni’s words more poignant for me. You may occasionally come to the realization that, as a human being, you occasionally need to take a few steps backwards in order to assess how you are doing and the state of your welfare.”
He also added “There are therefore not many sites where strong persons who have played the game for a long time can go and explain so that the other person can understand. The reason I brought up this specific incidence is because MS Dhoni is well aware of what is happening, he understands it because he has been there himself.”
Kohli gained his lost touch in T20 Asia Cup 2022 when he hit his career best 122* against Afghanistan. From there is no looking back and he scored continuously only T20 and ODIs.
